The hole in the release log.
Those who can’t do, teach.
I had an enormous amount of work today, combining pre-existing client work, plus a initial consultation with a prospective client and following up with two proposals, so at about 2 AM, I figured the streak would end.
Was I really about to release something good ?
No, but I could teach you how to release something everyday. And release that.
Don't make time in your schedule for creating something new. Go about your day. Start to panic around 11PM. Breath. Take a 15 minute nap. Start working. Every hour and a half, take a 15 minute nap. Release around 4. Notice how great sleeping feels? Next time, try to release it earlier, so you can get more of that. Repeat.
Releasing something a day feels like good hygiene. Like brushing my teeth twice a day. Not everyone does it, but the ones that do are clearly better off than the British.
I’ve definitely improved the quality in the last two days, with Always have a friend in your corner and The Fast Brand Workshop. This last one has been a long-time coming. It’s great. I love it. People love it. If cats could sing, they’d love it too.
It’s a virtuous cycle. At the start of last week, I had almost no ideas about the things I could release. Having to come up with something everyday has re-unlocked that part of my brain that says “oh, do this” and “oh, and also that”, and “but, also, do this other thing” which is great. It used to be that I could not turn this part of my brain off. This is no longer the case, though I just acknowledge the idea, write it down, and move on (thank you coach).
I’ve been deliberately fighting for about a year to stop being a perfectionist. This has worked extremely well and this daily release goal is definitely helping to enforce my new found ability to hit closer to the required quality target. What do I mean?
